Chinese Language Week at SNS

Term 4 Week 1 was Chinese Language Week. Many Chinese students wore Chinese clothes to school, and Mandarin posters were displayed to teach basic greetings.
Viola is a Chinese International student who started in February 2017 with very little English. With the assistance of our Chinese English Language Assistant (ELA) Ms Qian, Viola has made outstanding progress and has now graduated to the topic group. Have  a look at how a student who is fully literate in their first language (L1) can successfully achieve English language acquisition. This is the reason we recommend speaking only L1 at home, and keeping up the L1 literacy.

Tongan Language Week

This week we celebrate Tongan Language Week, with our Tongan students attending school in their cultural clothes. Malo e lelei everyone!

 

Archer's First Piano Recital

Last Saturday I played the piano at the Northcote Intermediate School hall. I was on the big stage.
I played a song called "Fanfare".

Prisha went to the Hare Krishna temple on the weekend

Last weekend Mum and Dad and I went to the Hare Krishna temple at Kumeu. We had some food. I had some fruit yoghurt. We saw some girls dancing.

Our Visit toThe Sky Tower

Last Sunday my family went to the Sky Tower. We went up to the top to look at the view. We could see Rangitoto, the Harbour and the city buildings. We saw some people bungy jumping off the Sky Tower. Mum and Sarah were scared to watch them. We had some yummy blackberry ice-cream and chocolate cup cakes for afternoon tea. I had a fantastic day!

My weekend news

On Saturday I went to my friend's house. I played in her room. We made a pink, yellow, blue and purple ring with little bracelets. I took the ring home.
